This year, the children on the committee, have taken an active role in deciding what Eco activities they would like to complete and be involved in. Including making posters to decorate the greenhouse, using recycled materials to make bird feeders, and planting wildflowers. The whole school has taken part in a cut the carbon challenge and some of the committee have entered a national Eco competition run by Prince William.
Other planned activities that the Eco committee will participate in include:
Recycling: Collecting and recycling items
Planting: Planting trees or creating a green roof
Cleaning: Cleaning up our school or litter picking
Researching: Researching and making action plans to improve the school and local environment
Educating: Learning about ways to reduce our carbon emissions and improve the school environment.
Influencing: Engaging with parents and the community to promote environmental behaviour.
Helping the community: Visiting Serpentine gardens to help maintain the gardens and learn about future projects we can help and be involved in.
Being part of our Eco committee is a wonderful opportunity to create awareness, build attitudes and help the children take up activities in our school and the local community.
