Curriculum/ History

History is the study of times that have passed and should inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Pupils are encouraged to see history as exciting and relevant to them and thereby able to understand the present in the context of the past.

Teaching will equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement. It allows children to understand lives in the past, the process of change, the diversity of society and look at their own identity and the challenges of time both nationally and locally. Children will look at historical events, places and people and see them within a chronological framework. They will also compare and contrast the similarities and differences.
